Types of Ladies Bags


Handbags and purses have been around for centuries. In fact, the earliest version of the bag was found mummified with Otzi the iceman, circa 3,300 BC. Doubtlessly, purses have evolved drastically over the millennia and now exist in many different styles

  1. Hobo Bag

     

    • The hobo style hand bag is defined by its distinct crescent shape. It is generally made out of a slouchy material such as suede and has a mid-length shoulder strap.

    Clutch

    • The clutch is a small, generally rectangular, handle-less bag in which women generally carry small items such as lipstick.

    Satchel

    • The satchel is a large bag with two short handles. These bags usually are high-volume and are ideal for traveling.

    Tote

    • A tote bag is generally made out of canvas and has two handles. Totes are usually more durable than other types of handbags and are ideal for carrying books and even groceries. Their lightweight material also come in handy for days at the beach.

    Messenger Bag

    • A messenger bag is a large, rectangular bag with a long strap that goes across the chest. These are popular among business people and students.

    Other Types

    • Aside from the aforementioned varieties of purses, there exists a wide variety of other styles. The Accordion bag is a purse composed of a series of adjacent pouches. The Balentine bag is a leather purse on a long cord worn on the wrist and hangs at knee length. The pompadour purse is a small velvet or lace pouch.
